Moar whine please.
I love taking a so called crap monk build that everyone here keeps on whining about and making it work. This brawl is supposed to be fun, not serious PVP. And RA isnt serious PVP either (I was actually playing Mhenlo's NF bar in RA yesterday for fun).
Real serious PVP is a match where you pick your team and builds. If you dont like the random arenas, then dont play them, got do your GVG instead.
These monks can solo any of the other builds in the brawl. You simply heal yourself while watching the enemies die. It has the same effect when you smite of your allies.
Multiply the number of monks in a party, and you are looking at huge damage by chaining Smite Hex / Condiition against those Necros, Mesmers, Rangers and wherever the bleeding and deep wound are coming from.
Oh, and the Healing Breeze / Vigorous Spirit / Reversal of Damage combination only fails if the target is being ganked by 3 or more enemies, it can perfectly keep your ally standing against two attackers provided that they keep on fighting and dont run away like yellow bellies.
Some general tactics for success:
1) Most importantly - CAP BEFORE KILLING!!! E.G. If the enemy team controlls both health shrines, then you are dead if all you do is stand on the centre shrine and attack (durrrr lyk u get +120 health from each shrine lolwut!).
2) At the start, make a 2 man and 3 man split and cap as many shrines as possible. the 2 man team should NEVER engage any enemies, but focus on regrouping with the larger group after their caps are done. The larger group should only defend against attackers and try to keep controll of their captures, and never engage anyone away from a shrine, the group of two should avoid combat if at all possible, or unless they find a single enemy to gank. If you are in the group of two and you see an enemy group of 3 or more, DO NOT ENGAGE THEM!!! Look for another route to another shrine or back to the main group and try and break off to cap again after it is clear.
3) After your capping is done, focus on regrouping. Once you have the majority of the shrines, and everyone is back together, you have an easy win. This is the key to winning, get the shrines, then get back together. Kill the enemy team and follow them to their base. If they cap any shrines, one person, preferably a ranger, should break off to try and recap it and call for help if it is still guarded.
However, you are in a random pug group, and 90% of the time you will have people insisting that you stay together right from the start, and / or that do nothing but attack the enemy team while both the health shrines are under their controll.
Oh, and I forgot - try to use CTRL - Space and T button.

Rits, as the only half-decent source of healing, are imba.
Eles are imba because 70% play physicals. I was also surprised by how much damage water can actually do >.>
Rangers also look pretty good.
Well, off to play some more.

Haven't been watching obs lately have you. All that stupid Lyssa bar needs is backfire. That kind of mez is much better suited to small team random gankway.
The Paragon seems a clear loser - no IAS (anthem but no agressive?), only helpful if you get a fair number of physicals on your team, and crap when you start splitting at that. Only bonus is the "fall back" for your team. No surprise its the one character I have yet to see in a match.
Water ele is awesome but, a good ranger/mesmer can destroy it. Likewise Rit is rediculously resiliant until it hits water/mez. Some good RPS going on.

The new map sucks. It's too big. I hate running around capping the stupid shrines.
I'm not a big fan of the sin build. Shame cause that was the char I played the whole time last year. It's just too... weird. Too many conditonal things to it. I also found the self heal this time more annoying than anything.
I'm actually liking the dervish though. Definitely my number one choice at the moment.
Contrary to the majority, I actually liked the monk build. It's not the greatest, no, but it was fun to play being able to be support and damage. And it got the job done. I might play him a few times. Ritualist was cool too.
Ele was pretty fun, and mesmer is always good for messing people up. I liked the necromancer in just being able to steal conditions from teammates and give them to the enemy, but the only thing really good about that build is Insidious Parasite. Ranger and Paragon wasn't too bad. I hate the warrior build. Maybe just because I don't find it as effective enough compared to the dervish's capabilities.

that'd be tru if u based tier's on the build quality...
but if u based em on match-ups in a costume brawl fight, they'd look more like this:
imba = ranger
top = ele, rit, monk
mid = war, derv, sin, nec
bottom = para, mes
war definatelly has a good bar...
but when it comes down to it
its bout match-ups
and he gets out-matched in too many 1vs1 situtations
on the other hand, nec has a horrible bar...
but is the -only- class that can reliably neutralize a ranger
